Aflac – Comes from the initials of the company’s previous name of American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (which remains the legal name of Aflac’s underwriting subsidiary)

 

 

GEICO – Comes from Government Employees Insurance Company

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

H&R Block – after the founders, brothers Henry W. and Richard Bloch (with “Bloch” changed to “Block” to avoid mispronunciation).
