How Much You Need to Make To Own a Home in 27 Cities in U.S. (INFOGRAPHIC)

I’ve lived in the Bay Area for the majority of my life. Sometimes when I see how inexpensive it is to buy a home in other states the amount of money seems almost make-believe or pretend.

When I saw this graphic from HSH.com, I instantly knew why…

how much does it cost to own a home around the u.s.

Look closely.

Do you see where you need to make the biggest salary to afford a house? Yep! San Francisco!

And the salary you need to make in the Bay Area in order to own a home is almost two times the salary you need to make in New York City or Washington, D.C.!

That’s why home prices in every state seem like pretend amounts to me!

It’s because we live in an area where you need to make three times the salary of the national average for the whole rest of the country! 🙂 (*You can see the national average underneath the title “The salary you need to buy a home in your area.”)
