Google’s New Content Platform and What It Means to You

Google-Posts-Logo

Did you hear that Google is testing out a new content platform?

It’s called “Google Posts” or “Posts with Google.”

What This Means for Google Users

Here’s how Google describes this new service and its benefit to users…

“Every day millions of people search on Google, many of whom are looking for information about prominent individuals and organizations. Now we’re experimenting with a new way for users to hear directly from select entities they’re searching for on Google.”

That means that in the future, when we search on Google for information about certain well-known individuals, businesses, and organizations, Google will provide us with helpful information, created by these people, businesses, and organizations, themselves.

That way we don’t have to just get second-hand information about these entities. We can now get content straight from “the horses mouth.”

What This Means for  Content Creators

Here’s how Google describes this new service and its benefit to content creators…

“Verified individuals and organizations can now communicate with text, images and videos directly on Google. Creating content is fast and simple, and once published, posts will appear instantly in search results related to the publisher. Each post can also be shared on popular social networks.”

First of all, you’ll notice that the new Google content platform appears to be a way for individuals with personal brands and corporate brands to create content that will speak directly to people searching for information about them.

That means that it doesn’t appear, at least at this point, that Google will be opening up its platform to just any and all people who want to create content. It will just be for “select entities.”

(Hopefully they will open this up to others in the future!)

The other interesting thing about “Google Posts” or “Posts with Google” is that the content that these brands create sounds like it will appear instantly, in real-time. That means that brands don’t have to wait for their content, created on this new platform, to appear in search results.

They’ll just “hit the button” and it will appear in the Google results!

  1. With the new Google Penguin update, I am focusing on leaving high page rank do follow back links. These back links will need to age for me. I have notices that I have lost some old do follow back links which has moved down my position.
