How A Worm Gets Inside An Apple And The Thief In Your Mind

your thoughts impact your life

“Don’t become a victim of yourself. Forget about the thief waiting in the alley; what about the thief in your mind?” — Jim Rohn

Have you ever wondered how a worm gets into an apple?

It’s not how you think it happens. And after you find out the real answer, you might wish you didn’t know.

If you’re feeling brave and really want to know the real answer, then continue reading…

How Worms Really Get Inside Apples

Most people think that a worm gets into an apple by burrowing from the outside.

But guess what? That’s not completely true!

You see, during the summer small fruit flies can be found buzzing around apple orchards.

These flies are called apple maggot flies. Each female finds herself a nice apple that is ripening and then lands on it.

Next, by using a small, sharp, hollow tube on the underside of her body, the fly stabs a small hole in the fruit.

She then releases her eggs, which slide down that hollow tube into the apple.

Soon afterwards, the eggs hatch into tiny white worms.

These worms are called railroad worms.

But this is the key part you have to understand.

All during the summer and into the fall, the hungry worms feed on the apple by munching tunnels in the apple.

When the apples are ripe they fall and drop from the tree.

Then the worms crawl out and burrow into the ground.

Then the whole process starts over.

The Difference That Makes All The Difference

Do you see the difference in the real way that worms get into apples compared to how most people think they get into apples?

They don’t burrow in
They are born in the apple and burrow out!

Do you see why I started with that Jim Rohn quote?

Your greatest enemy isn’tout there” it’s “in here“.

Your greatest enemy is your own thoughts.

That is why I really like this quote:

Watch your thoughts, they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” – Frank Outlaw, Late President of the Bi-Lo Stores

Two Important Questions

  • How are your thoughts currently affecting your destiny?
  • How can you change those thoughts?
