The Origin Of Mother’s Day In The U.S.
We hope that all the Mom’s out there are celebrated and cherished this Sunday for Mother’s Day.
Do you know how Mother’s Day got its start?
The creator of Mother’s Day in the United States is a woman named Anna Jarvis.
She organized Mother’s Days observances in Grafton, W.Va., and Philadelphia on May 10, 1908.
Later, after the celebration had begun to spread around the country, she asked members of Congress to set aside a day to honor mothers.
Finally after six years of persistence, Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
