The Lesson Of The Emperor And The Artist: The Necessity Of Planning The Business You Want

“Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.”

Thomas A. Edison

Are you busy working for your business?

Or are you planning a business that works for YOU?

The Lesson Of The Emperor And The Artist

I came across an interesting story that illustrates why you need to plan the business you want or you’ll never have the business you want.

Several centuries ago, there was a Japanese emperor.

He commissioned an artist to paint a bird for him.

But a number of months passed by, then several YEARS, and yet there still there was no painting.

The emperor was tired of waiting.

Finally he became so upset that he went to the artist’s home to get an explanation.

But what happened next surprised the emperor.

Instead of making excuses, the artist placed a blank canvas on the easel.

Then the craziest thing happened.

In less than an hour, he completed a painting that would become a brilliant masterpiece.

The emperor couldn’t believe it!

When the emperor asked the artist what the reason for the delay was, the artist showed him armloads of drawings of feathers, wings, heads, and feet.

Then he explained that all of this research and study had been necessary before he could complete the painting.

Masterpieces take planning and preparation.

Do you want your business to be a masterpiece or a mess?

If you want it to be a masterpiece, then you’re going to have to plan how you want it to run, what you want to accomplish, etc.

Why You’ll Only See One Post A Day In August

I don’t want BayBusinessHelp.com to be a business that controls my life.

I want it to be an asset that adds to my life, not a liability takes away from it.

I am taking the lead from other sites like CopyBlogger.com and reducing the number of posts for the final month of summer. (They do it for all summer.)

I know that my 3 boys won’t be this age forever.

I want to lessen at least one area of my life this month, so I can focus more on them and my wife before school kicks in again in September.

I also want to post less to be an example to you of someone who is planning the business I want instead of hoping it accidentally appears.

For that reason, we’ll be posting one post a day.

I want to encourage you to come by and take a look at the new post each day, share it with your friends/followers, then go enjoy your day – or maybe even create some content yourself!
