Story: A Lesson On Self-Imposed Limits From Trained Fleas
I have heard that you can train fleas by putting them in a jar with a top on it.
At first, the fleas jump will jump and hit the top over and over again.
But as you watch them jump hit the top, you will begin to notice something interesting happening.
The fleas will keep jumping, but won’t jump high enough to hit the top anymore.
They’ve learned to limit the height they are able to jump to protect themselves.
And this is the crazy part.
You can take the top off and even though the fleas will continue to jump, they won’t jump out of the jar.
Why? The reason is simple.
They’ve trained themselves to jump only so high.
Once they have conditioned themselves to jump just so high, that’s all they can do.
It’s a smart choice when the lid is present.
But it’s a sad, idiotic decision when the lid is removed.
Don’t Be a Flea
Have you learned the same the trick?
Have you “hit your head” so many times you’ve learned to limit yourself and not jump as high?
Have you gotten into the habit of limiting yourself in order to protect yourself?
What if the “lid” is no longer there?
Wouldn’t you hate to get to the end of 2014 and find out you could’ve gone higher?
There’s only one choice.
Go for it one more time.
Jump as high as you can.
Give it your all.
What’s the worst that could happen?
A bump on the head is worth the risk compared to the opportunity to reach new levels and jump out of the jar.
P.S. Want motivation to go for it?
I’ve researched this and discovered that not only do fleas limit themselves in that way, but they’re offspring are born with the same limits. Watch on this video to learn more…
