Square Is Moving To San Francisco And Hiring 1,000 People

Did you here that the mobile payments company called “Square” is moving to San Francisco?

They are and they plan on hiring 1,000 new workers.

“”Maybe Jack Dorsey just couldn’t stay away.

“Square, the mobile payments company he co-founded and heads, is moving to San Francisco’s Mid-Market, one block from Twitter, the company he also co-founded and used to run.

“Taking up four floors and 246,000 square feet at 1455 Market St. – with an option on another 81,000 square feet – the move is all about Square’s rapid expansion, which is close to matching Twitter’s.

“Starting out three years ago with 10 people at the Chronicle building at Fifth and Mission streets, Square now has 400 staffers – a number it plans to increase to 1,000, mostly engineers and designers, by the end of 2013.”
