Every year at this time, we’re bombarded by an endless number of holiday event invitations.
As an event planner, your job is to get the most people to your event.
Printed and online invitations, newspaper ads, radio spots, television ads, etc., all work very well, and social media can add another level of success to your events.
Here are a 8 ways to use social media promotions to drive more people to your holiday party, boutique or other event.
- Event hashtags – Create a hashtag for your event and use it on all your marketing materials. Something like #XYZCoHoliday will help people send and find messages about your event via Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other social networks.
- Giveaways are great social media promotions – Give away tickets to your event and promote the giveaway via social networks. Encourage sharing and retweets for more chances to win. For expensive events, require a video or story to be submitted or the creation of a special board on Pinterest. Then use these submissions to create a bigger buzz.
- Trivia Contest – Host a trivia contest prior to your event to increase engagement. Giveaway free tickets or drinks. Twitter works really well for real-time engagement.
- Live giveaway – Giveaway a t-shirt, gift basket or other valuable item to the “first 50 people through the door.”
- Sharing for registrants – Include share buttons on your registration page for registrants to use to tell their friends.
- Promote vendors, speakers and special guests – Tweet and post about your speakers, guests of honors, boutique vendors and also attendees. Let everyone know who will be there. Be sure to include photos of gifts to be purchased, books to be signed, homes to be toured, etc.
